Kid Art Class

Teacher Bio:

Ms. Peiya has been painting since early childhood and is of the opinion that exposure to art is an invaluable part of a well-rounded education. In 2012 she founded a popular art studio at two separate locations in Shanghai for kids between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. Over 400 hundreds students enrolled per semester which required her training new teachers as well as create tailored classes for the various student groups. Every year, many kids that attend her studios do very well in art competitions. In her classes, encouraging kids to observe and think about what to create is what she regards as one of the most important lessons to pass along while also improve their painting skills by teaching a wide variety of painting methods and an ability to use a lot of different materials.

Musical Theater for Kids

Ms. Hancheng Yang

  • Graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, majoring Music Education.
  • Co-founder & Vice President of Shanghai Guanmei Music and Drama Development Center (上海市观美音乐戏剧发展中心).
  • Certified Orff-Schulwerk Specialist Teacher on Music & Dance with Dalcroze eurhythmics approach.
  • In 2017, Acted as Art Director and Leading Tutor of Shanghai International Spring Art Festival Drama Education Special.
  • Director of the musical “Flower Mulan”, which is the only language-speaking program at the opening ceremony of National Elementary and Middle School Students’ Film Festival.
  • Served as the general director for several Shanghai Elementary and Middle School art festivals, and coached the choirs to win the first prize of the Shanghai Chorus Competition for several times.

Ms. Ran An

  • Experienced tutor of adult, young piano and children’s music.

Learning Chinese

Mandarin is the standard Chinese spoken by 70 percent of all Chinese speakers over a large geographical area. Learning Chinese will not only let Kids understand more Chinese culture but also improving the international communication skills as a world citizen.

I.C.E.A partners with Mandarin Playground to offer a unique program for PreK to 2nd grade children to learn Chinese in a fun but effective way.

The instructors from Mandarin Playground are passionate teachers beloved by Chinese and English Language Learners. They holds a Washington State Residency Teacher Certificates and China Teacher Certificates.

The program contains following ‘Fun with Mandarin’ features:

· Unique curriculum developed by researchers in bilingualism

Creative Haiku Reading & Writing

What will children learn:

Children will learn about the writing process, about reading an essay prompt carefully, brainstorming ideas, planning, writing, editing their own work, and rewriting.  They will become familiar with various types of writing, including narratives, process essays, comparison essays, poetry, and drama. They will create a finished portfolio of all of their writings.   Class will culminate with dramatic readings of their fables.

Teacher Bio:

Professor Deborah Walker has taught English as a Second Language at Santa Monica College, UCLA Extension, and other schools and universities.  She has an MFA in Film & Television from University of California, Los Angeles, as well as a Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language.  She is a member of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), as well as the California Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (CATESOL).
