Essay Writing

Is your child struggling writing essays with multiple paragraphs? Is their writing disorganized or confusing? Then, this is the class for them! Mrs. Rachael will focus on helping students create pieces that are organized, thoughtful and grade-level appropriate. By the end of the class, they will be writing five paragraph essays.

Description

In this class, we will write essays using information from multiple passages.  Students will write in organized paragraphs and learn ways to elevate their vocabulary, sentence structure and overall quality of their writing. They will write one essay each class and will get feedback with their strengths and ways to improve.  By the end, they will have a strong, five paragraph writing piece!

• 9/12 Week 1: Parts of an Essay and Using an Outline (4 Paragraph)
• 9/19 Week 2: Topic Sentence (4 Paragraph)
• 9/26 Week 3: Citing Evidence (4 paragraph)
• 10/3 Week 4: Explaining Evidence, Part 1 (4 Paragraph) 
• 10/10 Week 5: Extending the Introduction (5 paragraph)
• 10/24 Week 6: Strengthening the Conclusion (5 paragraph)
• 10/31 Week 7: Explaining Evidence, Part 2 (5 paragraph)
• 11/7 Week 8: Wrap-Up (5 paragraph)

Price: $200/8 Classes

1. The online zoom link will be sent out in the booking confirmation email as well as shown at the top of this page.
2. All students will be invited to join a Google Classroom before the class begins.

About the Teacher:

Rachael has been an educator for over 15 years and has been teaching ICEA writing class for more than 3 years. She currently teaches writing class in Aurora, Colorado. She received her masters in elementary education from Johns Hopkins University. Rachael is passionate about educating children and believes that every child can be successful with the right amount of support and resources. In her spare time, she likes to read, play Harry Potter trivia and bake treats from scratch.
