Class Description:

“Kids Can Code!– Python” is an 8-week program targeted towards students from the ages of 8-10. Students will learn Python, a dynamic general programming language that can be used to build websites and apps.

Python is known for its ease-of-use and multitude of packages that can be used for a variety of tasks, from machine learning to natural language processing.

By the end of the program, students will be able to perform mathematical and String operations, iterate using for/while loops, read user input to create versatile programs, learn about data frames (matrices, dictionaries, lists), and code their own classes and functions. Students will also develop entrepreneurial abilities through brainstorming sessions, business presentations, and will create their own business proposals and ideas. The program will culminate with a Hackathon, where students will use their new programming skills to create a prototype of their business plans.
